Fast.... I mean REALLY FAST

Which diesel in Germany?

I have an 82' 240 Volvo with the NA D24 diesel; lately it has been acting strange.

After accelerating to approx 50mph it starts clicking and blowing blue smoke, it also wants to accelerate on its own. Since a diesel will run away, I assume it is sucking oil/vapor from somewhere,

So do I need a rebuild, or is this possible to fix.

Any help would be appreciated, my truck is down for new front hubs/ball joints/u-joints

Thanks

it's been a long time since i had to work on one of those, my last one was a turbo, they are pretty hardy and generally go about 200k miles before loosing compression, id look at the blow by and breather to see if that's where the oil is coming from, i can't remember where the breather connects from the valve cover, i think it pipes into the intake, if so and that's the source moving it to a catch bottle would be a start

Yep, directly from the valve cover into the intake. I was thinking of disconnecting and putting into bottle. Thought also the oil was being sucked past the rings.

Won't work, pukes oil out of the breather like you wouldn't believe.

Engine is shot, kinda funny, runs very smooth, good power, just the oil rings I guess.

Anyone interested, make me an offer, northern CA, Sac area.
