Due to a recent hole in my fuel tank, I am now looking into a new fuel tank for the 1990. My question is are the 89-90 and 91-93 tanks the same?

I would say at first guess, no. The 89-90 used a v band clamp to hold the sending unit into the tank while the later ones used a thread on collar/nut.

Also, my 90 tank seems to be very narrow at the front under the cab (maybe 6" tall) and the one from my 93 seems to be more like 12".

Strap location I dont know but would imagine that would not have changed due to the crossmembers not moving.

Where I am going with this is as the 91+ tanks are also available, maybe I will use one of those. Are the fuel level sending unit cartridges the same? As in wiring, fuel line connections, etc?

Anyone have any info?

Thanks!

Robert

P. S. Everyone make sure your exhaust is VERY secure. If not, when you are running 1300 pyro up the side of a mountain, that will be the time your exhaust decides to let go and relocated alot of hot air onto plastic things!;)

Have you thought about an after market tank? There are some that go as high as 50 gallons - gives you a lot more range and they are a direct replacement for the OEM tank.

Bob,

Yes. Have toyed with it. The $1000 is whats stopping me! ;)

:D

I try to be good. This one is my DD. The crew cab gets all the goodies like that. This one though... . I am TRYING to be good. Although the HX35, SBC clutch, 4" exhaust, gear vendors, etc has not helped that argument! ;)
