89 Cruise Control Questions? Need help.

Anyone out there have Cruise control in there 89's? Was it a factory option? I am having problems with mine, pulled it out of my
totaled 89 and reinstalled into another
89 truck and now can not get it to work anymore?
Does any one have a correct wiring diagrams
or any suggestions in how to trouble shoot or fix it. Dealer has no info and said that the 89 never came with cruise?

Thiery are your switches for the cruise control part of the turn signal? I can't tell you if your truck came from the factory with cruise, mine did, but it is a 92. What I can tell you is that in 92 they had 2 different steering wheels, a large one and a smaller one with the control switches mounted to it, this is what I have. When I purchased the truck the dealer told me that 92 was the first year for the smaller steering wheel. It is possible that the cruise control that you have was offered as a dealer installed option. What I would suggest is that you consult the factory service manual, this should have a wiring diagram for the cruise if it doesn't than for shure it was added on. If you can't get your hands on a manual I may be able to help you with the trouble shooting chart in my 92 manual.

Thiery, cruise control was a dealer installed option in '89. It was not available from the factory. The system the dealer installed on my '89, (in '89), uses a speed sensor that is driven by the speedometer cable. Did you swipe this part from the totaled truck and install it in the "new" one?

Will have to look for the speed sensor, where
is (was) it located as I still have the totaled truck, minus the wiring loom as it will be used in the make up for a 85 Crew cab
conversion my friend "CudaBob" is doing.
Will need to look at and compare wiring harnesses and sensors to try and figure out what may of happened.
Do you have the wiring scematic by any chance?
Finally got the AC working, last thing is the cruise?

drivers mopars, Thanks for the offer on the 93 but I have one that I will be in on Saturday and it is completely different.
I will be bringing your Mopar 93 tach up as well and you will be able to see mine as it's mounted.

I'm curious as to where you got the cruise control. That is one thing I wish my truck had. I would be interested to know how it is hooked up and how well it works. I ask about a year ago for info on this but was told that JC Whitney was selling some but they didn't work well at all. A lot of surging.
