Hello,

I have been working on a 5.9 for some time now for a swap. Currently I have it on an engine stand and running. Today I noticed some oil in the exhaust.
What could the problem be? The engine was sitting for what looks like maybe 10-15 years.
Didn't have any issues the last few startups.
I also keep having issues with injector fuel leaks, yesterday I had it running for about 15 mins without any fuel leaks.
Any suggestions?

That looks to me like fuel in the exhaust. May only do it at idle or when engine is cold. If the injectors have been sitting 10 years it would probably be best to have them serviced.

Hmmm... several things come to mind. Oil consumption past the piston rings, due to wear or cold temps..... injector failure, as mentioned..... and possibly a turbocharger seal.... If the shaft is leaking behind the exducer, it could leak oil down the exhaust side. except it shouldn't be in the exhaust manifold from leaking there...

If it's been sitting that long, it could have a rusted piston bore, which would cause it to leak oil until the rings re-seat and scrape the rust out... if it can.

this might sound stupid but is there water in the coolant system? water mixed with exhaust carbon can get that oily look to it, a blown head gasket could be the source of the water
