I have a trip coming up that I am NOT looking forward to. This year is my turn to go with my son's 8th grade class trip to D. C. For me one of the worst parts about it is the flight from L. A. to D. C and back... I hate flying!

Well lets say its so bad that I told my wife that I would take her place of cooking at our private school(church school) if she would go. .

I am not an adventurous kind of guy... I guess that you would call me a creature of habit. . and getting on a plane is NOT a habit I want to start. .

Anyway I just needed to vent...

Rick

Good luck. D. C. is a great place to visit, and you and your son will see and learn a lot. This is one of my favorite places to take students. They seem to really get into all the monuments and history. I'll take your place for you if you want... :-laf

Tylenol PM works wonders for me, especially if it is going to be at least a 6 hour flight. I am not keen on flying either and prefer to sleep through the experience. Hope the trip goes well. Would love to go to visit there myself.

I love to fly and do whenever I can. Would you feel better if I was your pilot? Hehe.

Ok, not funny. You will be ok!

There are so many cool things to see in DC - once you get over the plane trip! If there was any choice in the matter, I'd drive - I'm going to drive from DC to LA (with many, many stops in between) and back next summer. If you've never been out here before, you're going to have a great time!

I've been to D. C. twice and both times it was great. I enjoyed the Smithsonian (sp?) Muesums and Arlington Nat'l Cemetary the best. The flight was alil shorter from here but it still took atleast a day for me to get back in sink with everything.

Second trip we flew into Baltimore and did alil sight seeing there which was pretty good too. We went to the aquarium museum (forgot the name of it) and along in there.

We have to be at LAX at 5 a. m. and then the plane leaves at 6:45. We do have a layover in either Dallas or St Louis and then on into Dulles. The group is staying in the Chevy Chase hotel for the 4 nights that we are there. We leave Dulles at 3 p. m. on Friday and land in LAX at 8 p. m.

Then we have about a 3 hour drive home...

Rick

Once you get out of LAX, the rest of the trip is cake. Can't help you much on Dulles, I will only fly out of BWI or DCA.

DC is a good place to visit. Bring lots of cash for those lunch hour stops on the Mall.

Here's what you need to do...

  1. Rent an '04 Chevy Blazer
  2. Get on your Nextel
  3. Do some direct connect action with ToolManTimTaylor... break the ice a bit
  4. Get out in front of the Department of Energy building at the stop light
  5. Hang the Nextel out the window of the rental
  6. Power brake the rental until you get the tires good and lit
  7. Roll the quasi-burnout out across the intersection
  8. Repeat in front of many other big important buildings and make sure there are lots of people around who will duck and cover at the sound of squealing tires

Howdy Rick,

Nah, I was in D. C. for business to visit the fine folks at NBC for a few days.

I think I'd go insane if I had to watch after kids like you're doing.
