9 speed trannie

Does anybody know if you can bolt a 9 speed trannie(eaton,fuller,spicer)up to our 5. 9 ctd. How about a 14 inch clutch, it's not for me, it's for a friend of mine. :-{}

It probably can be done, but I have to ask why? The transmission will weigh about 800 lbs and its big! Will also need air to shift it. Why not go with an auxillary transmission.

A member put an Allison 9-spd into has truck a couple of years ago. Don't know if the post can be found in archives(search).

Believe he was from Texas, sorry can't rember his user name.

Check the conversion board. There was a recent post there that is on this subject. Then there was a refenence to another thread that goes in to more details of the transmission and 14 inch clutch.
