Need to pull dash to work on speedo lens. Found 4 or 5 screws at top and center. Still does not come out. What am I missing ? Woodgrain face seems to come off as a unit but something is still holding it ? Ideas ? R C

There are slip fasteners on the lower back side & pins on the dash that seat in them, just pull gently & firmly on the dash and it will come out.

Hey Roy,

I don't know 'bout yours but on the '93's there is an onry plastic piece that slips in a slot on top of your heater controls. Its a pain in the neck to get off. It helps a little if you take the screws out of the heater control assembly. Good luck.

Dieselman: The 91. 5 has the same 'latch' you're talking about. Once I had disconnected the message center ('wait to start' etc), I could reach in and *carefully* unlatch it.

r c :What paychk said, be gentle but firm and move around the thing when you're pulling. Eventually you'll ease all of the slip fasteners out. In my 91, the fastener just to the left of the steering column was the trickiest.

there is also a screw under the ledge above the radio. that and the 4 above the cluster, and then it can be fought out.

the cluster has about 4 more screws, and you may want to take out the heater controls, the cluster has a 'hook' on it, you'll see.

good luck, kent

yes, the manual says to tape off the steering column covers or remove them before removing the dash so as no to scratch them.

I forgot about the one above the radio! although the manual mentions it specifically.
