Anyone know the part # for oil press. sender?

Hello,

I have recently purchased a 91 W250 4x4 diesel with a 5-speed (Getrag?) transmission. The gear shift lever has some junky aftermarket knob that doesn't fit, which is one of my pet peeves. Nice truck overall, but needs a knew knob. (How does one lose the original knob in the first place?)

I have tried the dealer and junk yards, and no luck. Does anyone know where I could get an OEM gear shift knob, or an aftermarket one that looks AND FITS just like it? Even a remotely close appearance is fine. Thanks in advance!

Regards,

I can't offer you any advice on a replacement, but IMHO the factory knobs are junk. I'm on my 3rd factory knob (in 157,000 miles) and will go after market for the next one. This last one is already breaking down.

Steve,

Thanks for the tip. I have a temporary solution, I think. I had previously purchased a Mr. Gasket universal knob, which used a plastic insert and a setscrew. The setscrew instantly fell out and got lost, making the knob just as bad as the one that the previous owner had put on. So, I drilled out the metal part of the knob (deeper than the original hole), and tapped it to M10-1. 5, and the thing seemed to screw down tight on the shift lever. I am not sure how long this will last, but I guess time will tell.

I see that Quadratec sells an OEM-style shift knob for Jeeps with the same thread. Do you think this would be any better than the older Chrysler part? The Dodge parts guy told me the OEM knob was no longer available, anyhow.

Thanks again.
