Bill asked me to post this as he is getting alot of requests for these units and feels it is more cost effective to buy new units.

91-93 2x4 5014728AA 2700. 00 CDN

with the 4x4 you need one other part 6024035 as part of the changeup.

I hope this information is of some use and my 800 # is listed below.

2000 2500 long box 6 speed with everything but cab roof lights,Pyro, Boost, K&N, 4" exhaust, BD Brake, OEM nerf bars (best fit), [BOMB'D SRX700] 1 877 511-5599

I believe Bill has indicated that manufacturing changes have improved the materials and durability of SOME earlier transmissions - does that only affect those you list, or do the 89-early '91's (727 3-speed) benefit as well, and do you have pricing on them?

------------------
http://community. webshots.com/user/davison71 Early '91 250, 727 AT, 307 rear... Banks Stinger exhaust, intercooler... US Gear OD... Tweaked pump, upgraded radiator... MORE than a match for every new PS Ford encountered so far...

"Dura" WHAT? NOW I know where all those recycled beer cans go...

On the 3 speeds they change up as well but I don't know what they change. The 2WD is not available any more but The 4WD one is alot cheaper than the 4 speeds. You can call me or email me for more details if you need them.

Thanks

Gary

Blair and i searched through and did a teardown of parts used in the oem 727.

There are no upgraded parts that we could find in the oem 727.

Your best bet in my opinion is to have a good local transmission shop rebuild your existing transmission.

You can put in 1999 or later front drum, and add 5 frictions instead of 4. You can put in the 4. 2 ratio lever instead of the oem one.

The transgo shift kit with this application actually works quite well.
The mag hytec pan oem, the first one, using the spacer from the new super deep pan will fit nicely on the 727 models.

There are a few other minor upgrades you may want to consider, you can always call me if you want some more details on what to ask your transmission shop for.

HMMmm - well Blair, since this IS the "first generation" forum, and there are likely to be others lookng for the same answers as I am, why not post info here? BUT, feel free to E-mail me direct if you wish.

IF I understand your above post, the early 3-speed (2wd) trannies WERE upgraded, BUT are NOT available? HMMmm, doesn't seem to help much, does it! I'm REALLY trying to line up my alternatives as to future replacement/mods to my 2wd 3-spd 727 and TC, but MAN, getting accurate detailed info on these older trucks is like pulling teeth!

I'll appreciate ANY info you may provide - and approximate pricing would be a plus as well... #ad

Thanks Bill - as usual, your response is accurate and extremely helpful. After hearing about SOME earlier trannies being upgraded directly by CC, so left me wondering if mine was included.

I would ASSUME it would be best to rebuild early, when it's felt the transmission is nearing the need for o'haul - rather than wait 'til outright failure and perhaps serious peripheral damage is done to other internal components?

Assuming the o'haul, and use of the components you specify above, as well as any valvebody and TC upgrades appropriate to a truck like mine, can you provide a ROUGH price at least? I'm thinking that rather than wait 'til my truck drops in it's tracks - usually at the worse possible place and time, I would be smarter to tailor an o'haul to my exact needs while I still have the option of CHOOSING time and place!

*I* feel this forum is an excellent place to expose other users like me to this subject, but if you feel it better to reach me directly, feel free to use personal E-mail...
