Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) '91 injector pump

Thank you for the input on the problem. Some say that the system could be getting air into it before the pump. Is there any gears or timing chains that run the injector pump? The truck dies and some have said it is the pump timing not the injector pump itself. Could air in the system cause this problem solely?
