You guys ain't gonna believe this. I have a customer that I go out and work on his tractors at his place. A couple of years ago he picked up an early 91 cab chassis 1 ton 4X4 auto dually. I noticed about 5 months ago it was sitting, not getting used. Not suprising at this place. Any way I asked about it last week, found it had transmission problems. I asked if it needed another home. He said no, gonna cut it up for a power unit to run a pump. I figured let is set some more and ask again. Today I stop by and find the back half of the cab cut off, and the doors laying in the yard!! The hired man stopped by and I asked what the hell happened to my truck? Its in the shop, two guys CUT IT UP! When they got done they decided it wouldn't work as easily as they thought, and dropped the idea!!! I went and looked at it. What a mess, I have seen salvage yards do better removes than they did. Any way, I need some help from the early first gen guys.

This truck has a 3spd auto. I verified it has 3. 07 tags on the rear diff. This means it has a 71 rear and a 61 front correct? Does anybody need any drive train parts?? It would have a 727A, non IC correct? I know it has no OD switch on the shifter.

Its a 300,000 mile truck that is parted out. Nothing was left of the cab, body or anthing intact under the hook. EVERYTHING WAS GAS AXED OUT! Let me know I will call tonight or tommorrow. Sounds like the 727 has possible shift mechanism problems, unsure now with truck cut up.

I can not believe some people. If he would have fixed the transmission, and installed the front drive shaft it would be a $5000 truck!! Now its cut up JUNK!

I may be VERY interested in the axles if they are in good shape and dont need rebuilt, or at least the rear axle. May not get into doing a 4x4 conversion, though I think the first gen 4x4 R-C duallies look the best. It dont seem to be that far away, relatively speaking.

Michael, with the 61 &71 3. 07's diffenately theres folks out there looking for those axles. T-case as well. What kind of money we talking about? Bill

I did not ask, as I don't have money for them? Name a starting price and I will gladly call on them. I tried to get him to believe they might be kinda odd ball axels. This is correct right?

Like I said before 300,000 miles plus. Prolly might need seals, wheel bearings and I would do a ring and pinion backlash check, before putting back into service. This place I know did no mantenince on anything.

[Name a starting price and I will gladly call on them]. . I'll start the bid off with a hundred dollars... ! I ran into a nutt that parted out a 87 D150 and I got a bunch of small parts, interior parts etc. Also bought my 78 W150 for $200 cause the nutt couldnt get it to run, was sitting for 2 years, I had it for less than a week, and already had it running. Just waiting on a Dodge Cummins to fall into the hands of one of these nutts, then I can get one/parts for nearly nothing. Bill

I can't afford it either, but tell him i'll haul it away for him for no charge... . :-laf

Junk price?

Find out about the axles and remains. I will swap the parts to do a "factory" stand for what is left. He will have to furnish and install the radiator. I can send pictures. We have done this sucessfully. If the engine is in good condition, he should be able to get at least a couple thousand more hours out of it pumping water.

I will come get it.

My brother is going to pick up the axels, transmission and t-case. I don't know what his plans are with the axels. These are special and can't use lower gears correct? Anybody wanna switch out some 3;55's or 4;10's? Anybody want to switch to dually?

He says the engine is for sale, got one guy says he'll give $2500 for it, but as he says ain't got no money, so it ain't sold.

There really isn't much left of the truck unfortunatley.
