You guys ain't gonna believe this. I have a customer that I go out and work on his tractors at his place. A couple of years ago he picked up an early 91 cab chassis 1 ton 4X4 auto dually. I noticed about 5 months ago it was sitting, not getting used. Not suprising at this place. Any way I asked about it last week, found it had transmission problems. I asked if it needed another home. He said no, gonna cut it up for a power unit to run a pump. I figured let is set some more and ask again. Today I stop by and find the back half of the cab cut off, and the doors laying in the yard!! The hired man stopped by and I asked what the hell happened to my truck? Its in the shop, two guys CUT IT UP! When they got done they decided it wouldn't work as easily as they thought, and dropped the idea!!! I went and looked at it. What a mess, I have seen salvage yards do better removes than they did. Any way, I need some help from the early first gen guys.
This truck has a 3spd auto. I verified it has 3. 07 tags on the rear diff. This means it has a 71 rear and a 61 front correct? Does anybody need any drive train parts?? It would have a 727A, non IC correct? I know it has no OD switch on the shifter.
Its a 300,000 mile truck that is parted out. Nothing was left of the cab, body or anthing intact under the hook. EVERYTHING WAS GAS AXED OUT! Let me know I will call tonight or tommorrow. Sounds like the 727 has possible shift mechanism problems, unsure now with truck cut up.
I can not believe some people. If he would have fixed the transmission, and installed the front drive shaft it would be a $5000 truck!! Now its cut up JUNK!
