92 Dodge Dakota Trans fluid

I have a 92 Dakota that needs the trans fluid changed. I have gotten different answers of accecptable trans fluid type. Most things I have read says to use ATF 3+ which is now of course ATF 4+. I have read a few times that the older Dodge trans will be ok with Dexron fluids? The reason I ask is I have cases of Mobile 1 D/M that was given to me so I wonder if it can be used for the 92 Dakota? I would never use it in my built DTT in my Cummins but for this older truck can it be converted without a problem?
