Monte, I know all too well what you did. It is in fact what got me into a Getrag about eleven years ago. I borrowed my brothers 93 and due to a string of errors, I wound up towing the truck about 12 miles. Gezzz I should'a dropped the drive shaft.
What you have done is smoked the pocket bearing. That will include most likely the shift segment that is the slide collar and syncros for 3 and 4 gear. Very likely the main shaft is going to be bad at the bearing land as will the input shaft since the outer race is ground into the back of the input shaft. The speed bearings on the rest of the main shaft and gears on it may be ruined but (hopefully) may not.
Worst case, you don't have enough left to warrant rebuilding, least case, you have spent 6 to 700 buck and a ton of labor.
This happens because the transmission (pocket bearing) will not tolerate towing what so ever. There is no means to move lube oil around if the input shaft isn't turning and when you tow, that is the case and you now have the result.
Console yourself with the fact that you are not alone. It isn't the end of the truck. It is expensive. You are about to learn more than you want to know about Getrags.
I may have a few used good parts. When you have it laid out, we can talk a bit more. I think Jleonard has the manual on a CD that he will send you by email. You will want one from somewhere. EZGZ did a very good write up on the r and r. You may want to remove the floor around the transmission. That has been discussed in the forum as well. And you don't take it apart with a torch as has been mentioned. As you get into the project, I will help with what ever questions you have.
James
By the way, I wound up buying the 93 and it now has 500k miles on it. Still driving it part time since I have four more that I swap out on. I would not hesitate to drive it coast to coast if needed.
I tried to reply to your email but my server indicates that the address is invalid. Send your email address by PM and we can talk more.
