92 needs new turbo.... but which one?

my 92 W-250 needs a new turbo. I have been looking at everything from direct replacement to the HTTSP66 and the same size turbo from Industrial Injection. I dont think i need a 66, the one I keep looking at is the HTT HTB2-62. This truck does everything from driving me to work to pulling trailers(never more than 14,000 on trailer) and I go to the fairs and a few other places to pull with it. I just would like to know anyones opinion on what turbo to use, and I also need to know the Cummins part number for the Cobra exhaust adapter to hook up the 4" exhaust. I guess I should also say the truck has POD injectors, bully dog fuel pin, fuel screw turned in and timing advanced. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

A htb2 62-14 would probly be a good choice for DD, occasional sled pull/break something and trailer towing. Cobra part number is 3927862. Good read on this is :https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135321&highlight=hx40.

If it were me I send the stocker to HTT and have them do a stage III upgrade to it... or do it yourself.

My son went this way on his 94 the first time... then went with the HTB2 when he blew the WH1C (he doesn't believe in cool down time).

I have driven the truck with both turbos and towed with the HTB2.

I wouldn't say there was a quantum difference in performance to justify the quantum difference in cost.

But perhaps a first gen reacts differently.

I had an HX-35 that I got off EBay. Sent it to HTT for the Stage III, which was a new impeller (60mm) and housing for the intake side. I also went with the PODs, a 16cm exhaust housing and a higher flow intake pipe and filter. Huge difference! I want to increase the exhaust side, but the 2 Ms are preventing that (Mama & Money!) :-laf

Its On Its Way

Just ordered an HTB2 62-14 for my 92 should be here in a week or so can't wait. Think there just may be a 5" stack coming out of the hood for a while so i dont have to look in the mirrors for smoke, I can just look to the right. :-laf
