$92 Output Shaft Seal

Okay I have searched the forum and found a number of posts on problems with getting the right seal for the output on the transfer case on the CTD. But no were did I find mention that said seal rates on the open market at $92. 00



Feeling like I took a serious boning today. The seal needed to be replaced and I didn't mind paying $60 labor, but really, the most expensive seal I can find online is $25. 00. I understand 100%mark up, even 200% but more than300% seriously!



The guy commented that he finally found the right seal after 2 or 3 attempts, wondering if I just got charged for all of the failed attempts?



If I am wrong and the seal runs in the $40-$50 range I can see a markup of double, hell I am a residential contractor I understand you gotta make money and stay in business, but just seems crazy!



What is your experience with the cost of this seal?

Don't know the mechanic wasn't there when I picked up the truck I have called back for the part number but no response. I did a search and found 4 different part numbers for that seal in my year truck, but the most expensive was $25. But that is the price we pay when we don't do it ourselves. Just had a bad run of luck at shops lately. Have got to find somebody I can trust. local.
