Currently the '92 is still in the fixn stages, i have all but the gearbox, Axle U-bolts and that dadburn tierod adjuster bar on the front(which is @ a machine shop cause i can't find one anywhere#@$%!) But hope to get the rest of the stuff soon and get it back to the house where i will be working more on it. While in my state of repair myself i have been brain storming as to what i wanna do, well i have decided first thing is to gut the interior(take out the seats and carpet) down to the metal and see what all is going on, i been thinking no way am i going to pay 50K for a new truck even if i was able to, thats nutz when i can work on what i have little by little:D

Also i have a new arrival to the family, i would like to thank a fellow TDR member EWalshak for making that possible, this was in the works before my accident but since i am not able to drive and travel as i would like, he was so kind to bring in *drumroll* a '92 D350 rolling chassis which he had for his Suburban conversion, up until sat. i thought it was a 5 speed which i know was due to my head issues#@$%!, its an auto so that actually will be even better, so in the near future i will be looking for a repower for that unit which had the 518 tran. , but i am pretty sure she will get a paint code match paint job first, will try and get a pic up as soon as i can.

Also i go tomorrow for another visit to the neurologist so we will see how that goes and update them on what has been going on with me in the world of head injuries, lets just say this has all been interesting to say the least.

I want to say Thanks again for all the kind words and encouragement after that nite.

Hey Erik, glad to hear from ya.

First the appt. went good, was very positive but as was explained to me i still have somewhat of a road to travel down to get back to, well close to normal as i was before the accident. Its very nice to have that feeling of knowing you have someone standing beside you that understands and can get you back to where you need to be, just going to take "time"... .

As for the trucks, lets see the steering gearbox bracket i ordered, well didn't make it here, somewhere within fed-ex it ripped open and then someone decided to tape it back"empty" of course, i have called the shipper and also filed claim with Fed-Ex, what can ya do, i looked at the driver and i just started laughing, as for the front tierod bar im going to check with the machine shop on Monday and see if he has even started on it, if not i really gotta figure out how to get that fixed, its in skillful hands but he has been busy with logging equip.

Oh and i was able to get low and behold ahold of a gas pedal and a replacement information center for the duallyOo. I have leads on trim for inside as well as the '92, gosh lets see and i was able to snag a complete dash wiring harness which came from an automatic but should work on either truck, also i hope when i get the '92 back here i can just start ripping out the cab and get a look @ that floor, i know from underneath there is no rust showing but never hurts plus going to get rid of that carpet and padding, cause WE all know these trucks somehow end up with water in them even if you live in the Desert :-laf

Can you guys tell i have had enough of this chicken coop life, driving me nutz!!! I think thats enough for now... .

Keep it up Wyatt! Workin on these old jewels is the best therapy you can have. Aahhhh. And that soothing rattle when you finally get to twist the key. Sweeeet music, it is!

Glad to hear you're building up speed and getting better.

Take care.

:D tie rod adjuster bar is fixed, that was picked up yesterday, contemplating having a second one fixed, im at least going to get the measurments for it at least, that was a uplifting moment to see that bar fixed and tie rods in the ends of it. .

RedRam thanks a bunch, thank you for the kind words.

So we shall see what today brings, so far so good with the new meds(fingers crossed) now if i could just fill out paperwork and it not take me days...

well the steering box frame bracket came yesterday after the second attempt so just down to U-bolts and im going to let the guy putting it back together get those im tired of messing with parts. :-laf

Well it keeps getting better and convinced i somehow must have walked under a ladder or seen a black cat i don't remember, allergies have gotten worse on top of everything else plus i now have a cold or eye infection which ever you wanna call it which is really uncomfortable.

Went to pick up steering box as my chauffer(dad) was able to walk and drive again when i got there the parts delivery truck driver had a heart attack in another part of the state(I do hope he is okay) but the guy running the carquest had went after the orders, so gearbox is there going back in morning and they do have the u-bolts to replace mine that are damaged.

But on a good note when we took the parts i had to the shop where my truck is he in the past week had gotten in a 83-84 prospector(ya don't see those) the guy took it to get it inspected and it wouldn't pass, don't know why other than body rust i didn't see thing wrong with it, but there is several goodies i get to pick from itOo. , the guy told me he was just going to junk it, i told him i would be more than happy to help him dispose of it LOL. . and for a 190k mile motor it sounded good, no ticks no nothing

steering box and U-bolts(carquest) going down to the shop with the rest of the parts, the guy will be leaving for Carlisle Pa. for car show this week and will start on mine next week. . I keep wandering about that front sway bar and those end links, can't seem to find anything to replace, i may have him just removed it, what do you guys think? without the drivers side link the bar is useless... .

Without a sway bar, that truck is going to be all over the road. That Cummins is so heavy, its going to rock your suspension, and truck, like crazy.

Thats what i was thinking and actually was sure of, but i told the guy to take it off and to keep the link from pass. side and the part that was left from driver side, that way i might be able to figure something out. . If you happen to have a solution or anyone im all ears...
These bars are a thing of the past and have found that if you still have it attached its very rare, im a firm believer it was put there for a reason.
Thanks J for replying.

my 90 came without sway bars (the suspension is so stiff there isn't enough movement to notice), and the suspension couldn't have changed that much in 2 years, but it's a 1-ton... so I don't know.

Thanks Ak, im not so sure that i won't end up having something fab'd up cause when it gets home first thing out of the box is going to be rear brake and brake lines, which means seals for the rears. Anyone know the part# for the rear axle seals on 92 W250 and if i can get them online cheap... I have the axle socket for the nut so that isn't an issue.

The gaskets I got from NAPA were very thin and flimsy.
I went to the dealer to get the axle seals. They were a stamped steel gasket that was very nice. Just for the hell of it, I put a layer of black RTV on the back side of the gasket. It has a ring all the way around the axle hole as well as each bolt hole. The silicone just adds another seal for my comfort.
Of course, I traded the truck in two days later!

Thanks JH.
I have a Nat. seal here that i purchased in 06' but can't remember if its was for the 92' or the 00' i had. . #455086 is part#
I was also wondering if anyone knows if the rear drive shaft from a W250 reg. cab will work on a D350 reg. cab?

i was thinking the same thing but i had someone mention that since it was a 4x4 with transfer would that not make the shaft shorter when mating it to the 2x4, i had to think on that and he may be right, something to ponder but if one of the Guru's happen to know for sure let me know. . thanks again

its okay, i hope to do some junkyarding in the near or distant future, i already have 2 doors in excellent shape from a 91 for the 92 and going to see what else i can pull from that 91' trim etc...
i know the drive shaft prob. won't work it was a gas truck... .

Well i may be in luck for dually fenders on the D350 happened yesterday when my dad and i went to my nephew's first little league game, on the way back we both looked at each other and he said there sets one and i said yeah and their are fenders for the duals LOL, this truck has been sitting there since i was in my teens, its a 80's model but can't imagine these wouldn't work, from passing they look the same, will inquire with the folks and who knows this one may get the whole thing for nothing since its been sitting so long, can't hurt to try. .
Btw nephew's team won 11-4 it was nice to get out to a function like that and enjoy it, testing the waters on my limitations still...

Well my truck still isn't back to the house as of yet, but checking on that tomorrow as for me i am improving in some ways, just wished i could wake up feeling like i did before and do some things i was used to doing, i know i have to have patience well im tired of waiting .

I also in the midst of this lost my position i had @ my work place cause im still under Dr care and can't go back so thats another issue for someone else to worry about, but other than have my days where i get down which i keep the faith in knowing it won't be like this foreverOo.

Any chance someone knows of a engine with auto transmission A518 for 2wd ton dually, closest i found so far is in Nebraska which i don't mind a trip to somewhere i never been before when i get to where i can drive by myself #@$%! lol...
