My buddies truck is not running right. The symptoms are as you drive the truck and you get on it and it spudders and it doesnt want to go. Then get off the pedal it spudders and almost seems to almost stall. I know that it is idleing slow and I have to adjust this, could this be the problem? Also we have done some modifications to the pump like a missing fuel delivery rate pin and we turned in the fuel screw a good amount. To adjust the fuel screw we used the advice to adjust the idle down then turn in the fuel screw. Is there a point were the fuel screw is not to go in anymore?

Could there be any other problems like water in the fuel or bad fuel because the truck ran good about a week ago and only kind of spuddered a little soon as you let off.

You haven't mentioned if you replaced the filter or how long ago it was done. I'd change it just to eliminate it.

I don't know the pump well enough to comment about the missing/removed parts. Whats the mileage on the pump?

Check all the lines at the injectors to make sure there are know little leaks. Any sign of leaks also means the opportunity to get air into the lines.

Well I went over to drive his truck to see how what it was doing for myself and it wasnt that bad. I was thinking the way it was when the problem happens it is like the whole engine looses fuel all at once, not like a bad load of diesel. I seemed to me that the blue wire connecting to the fuel shut off solenoid was loose so I used a pliers to tighten it up and it runs fine now. Tonight he is going to drive it for a wile to see how that works.
