93/owner needs some help

My brother in Iron Mountain MI. is getting the runaround on his 93/stock duely,since I live in Hou. Texas-I cant give him much help,maybe there is a member in that area who actually knows something about his truck,the shop he's been using keeps throwing parts at the problem and he is out of money=excuse this feeble effort 1st time I've tried to post=altho been a member for some time,usually only read post. Thanks

low power especially when towing=a local shop replaced the intercooler,which they said was leaking=they say the lift pump pressures ard OK=now saying the injectet pump is bad=truvk has a hard time maintaining 55 when towing=will get more info and post=Thanks for reply

Just phoned brother;He said the truck runs rough at idle when cold & if he tries to give it more fuel it smokes real bad=0-to35=runs rough then begins to smooth out and pull thu gears on up to 70=he said it acts like its missing on the low end

Something he might try doing is pulling the fuel shut off solenoid. If he can see any filings around the piece of rubber, its a sure sign of the pump failing. Not the only sign but its an easy sign that doesn't take a lot of brain power.
