I would like to upgrade my '90 cooling system to the '93 radiator. I have read many posts on the topic but was hoping that someone who has done the coversion could list the necessary parts and part numbers or if they had a copy of the issue that detailed the conversion. I haven't decided if I want to just get the '93 fan shroud and cut it like Gary-KJ6Q or spend the money now to go to the newer fan style. I don't know what the difference in price would be but it doesn't sound cheap. I also don't know if I should buy a new or used radiator or try an aftermarket radiator. I would like to order the parts as soon as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My email address is -- email address removed -- if that is easier for anyone.

Thanks,

Dan

1993 Radiator Install

Hi Dan!

I see Bill has all ready e-mailed you,and I hope it will help you as much as it did me. I did my 1990 last year and was more than happy with the results. I can tell you this, that the 1993 shroud will work without cutting. Before you bolt your bottom mount into place, set the new radiator and shroud in position. You will then have to watch for enough clearence on the right side, between fan and shroud. ( right side would be driver side) You will probably have to cut a small notch in the old support bracket as the new radiator will be almost up against it, so it will sit all the way down in the bottom support bracket. If you need any more help with this project you can e-mail me! I do have most of the cost factors. Phil

Hey Bill, I never received an email from you. If it is not too much trouble I would appreciate it if you could email it again.

Thanks,

Dan

Hey Phil, Thanks for the hints on the shroud and the brackets. If you want to email me with whatever info you have I will take as much help and info as I can get. Thanks again.

I tried to e-mail you my e-mail address last night and it came back to me FAILED! There must be a problem on your end, with the e-mail address you posted. That is why Bill's didn't make it either. You should check it out!

Forgive me for being a skeptic - but having "been there, done that", I find it VERY difficult to imagine how the LATER shroud and radiator can POSSIBLY be used with the EARLY fan setup without SERIOUS cutting and adaptation to make the 2 properly fit together for proper, maximum air flow...

It IS do-able, and can be made to function and operate quite well, but "easy", it AIN'T!;) :p

Sorry Phil and Bill but I seem to be getting other emails just fine. Try it again at -- email address removed -- or my other email address is -- email address removed --. If neither one works try my boss's email -- email address removed -- or -- email address removed --. I just hope one will get here.

Thanks for the help.

Dan

Bill, I don't know what is happening but I got an email from Phil on his second try but I still haven't received anything from you. Maybe just try sending a small note first to see if I can get it. I hope I will hear from you.

Thanks for trying,

Dan

Dan,

The e-mail to your address works w/o attachments, but when I attach files, it's a no go.

E-mail your snail mail address and I'll send the copies from Issue 8, TDR Magazine.

Bill

Dan,

The info is headin' your way. I dropped it off at the Post Office in beautiful downtown Argyle, TX today!! You should have it about the end of the week.

Bill
