I am looking at buying a 93 2wd 250 with a cummins for a project I am working on. I plan to take the engine and transmission out of the pickup and use it in a service truck that I am building. By reading on this website if the pickup still has the factory transmission it should be a getrag. If so what is the 5 gear ratio? The guy selling it says that the transmission has been rebuild if I remember correctly about 45000 miles ago, but I am not sure. Any how if you guys could help me that would be great. Is there an easy way to tell if someone has swapped in a nv4500 transmission? Thanks alot

Rich

Getrag did everyone a favor. They cast "Getrag" in large cast letter into the drivers side of the transmission case. If memory serves me right. I think it also says 360 also which is the trans model.

Do you always skip 3rd gear? :p

Syncro is probably gone! :D You can tell pretty quick without getting under the truck by looking at the gear shifter, the Getrag shifter sets about 4. 5" - 5" from the heater housing & the NV 4500 is around 10" away. On my W250 the gear shifter & transfercase shifter are almost even.
