My dad just picked up a late 94 2nd gen 2500 8ft bed regular cab 5spd manual transmission with the cummins 12v. it has been setting for 2-3 years in a ladys driveway needs tires, batterys and general cleaning. picked it up for under 2,000 and it has very little to no rust. after tearing into it to get it running i noticed the turbo doesnt have the same boost elbow as my 96 actually i didnt see a boost elbow? also the past owner removed the fuel solenoid said it didnt work and makeshifted a choke cable. we are going to have our diesel performance shop set the timing adjust the valves and put a fuel plate into it as well as adjust the afc plate.

my question is what should we do about a clutch the stock seems ok but the truck has 188,000 on it and it is original. also anything else we should do to the motor while we are at it he will be towing a 27ft fith wheel camper.

also what about the transmission any worry's there?

the truck seems to be a good catch for him we are acquiring a fleet of 12v'sOo.

I would personally run the clutch until it needs replaced. If it wears out in the middle of a trip, simply keep your foot out of it until you can replace it. I drove an old 86 ford 6. 9 diesel for over a year with a bad clutch, you could just never floor it.

Fix the KDP, loctite and tighten the bolts inside the gear case, and check the exhaust manifold for shrinkage before you break an ear on the head.
