I thought maybe if I gave a few more of the symptoms of my problem maybe you all would be able to further diagnose and give me some ideas of what exactly my problems are. It started with just a loud pop and felt like the whole truck jumped. Then though it went away and I drove it about a mile towards college without any other problems. However, when I went to go ahead and back into my spot at college I went to shift the truck into reverse and all it did was growl. Then I put it in drive again and that worked fine. However, Reverse once again did not work. So i shut the truck off and then shifted down into reverse and it worked fine. However then when I went to shift the truck into park it just continued to roll, but while it was rolling the truck made a popping noise while rolling and it will continue to roll forward, but when moved backwards by hand it pops once and then will not go any further. So we proceeded to haul the truck to our shop. Today though I crawled underneath the truck and was trying to see if I could find any visual problems with the linkage, and did not find any visual things on the outside that I could see. So we then went and took the truck out for a drive around our lot and found the same problems as we did earlier. Then I took it for a short trip down the road where under normal acceleration it shifts into all the forward gears easily, but when I let off the gas it did the same growling noise again but it continued for a long time until I got the truck stopped. Any time I would let off the gas after accelerating it would do the same thing again. It almost seems like that it might be in the transfercase because all the gears seem to be working alright and sometimes it does work in reverse very easily. When I put the transmission in 1 I put my foot on the brake and began to give it gas it held and was almost ready to spin when it made a loud pop again and then begain to growl again. But I could never get it to do this again because every time after that it just began to spin the tires. Let me know I need some ideas because I am out

Thanks.

Is the transfer case slipping out of gear? Grab the transfer case shifter next time to feel if the gears are grinding. Mine would slip out of gear when I let off the pedal; ended up needing a rebuild. Let us know.
