Hi guys, I haven't been in here for a couple of years but I just bought a 94 2x4 w/300k miles. As you might imagine she needs a little tlc. I would appreciate any help in trouble shooting the problems.

1. Leaking oil plug

2. Cruise kicks out (will check for vacume loss)

3. Lights flicker at night, even lost headlights once.

This rodeo pu has over 300k and is still on the original auto! I have known the little one scince it was new and it has always been solid.

Thanks

Brant

1. If the plug is leaking you either need a new gasket or plug. If the pan is leaking that is a big job.

2. Check the vacuum hose under the driver's side battery. Acid leak can make holes in it.

3. Probably need a new headlight switch. If there are any add on lights on the switch it can over heat.

Get a dealer to check the VIN on truck to see what recalls have been done. 3 recalls that I know of are Headlight Switch, Throttle Cable, Shock Tower / Coil Spring housing reinforcement.

this might help

had a similar problem with my lights so i had a friend check it out... . hes an electrician so i thought he could source it out..... he took out the fuses one by one and touched em up with some sand paper and tadaaa problem solved so before you do lots of work check the fuse.

(check the cheap stuff)quote from old boss ;)

try disconnecting the brake pedal switch to solve the cruise issue. if you hit a bump while on cruise, and your brake pedal jumps, it can momentarily hit that switch and turn off the cruise. I think theres some kinda adjustment you can do to the switch, but with 300k, ya might need a new one. .

good luck
