Stuck in Austin
So my truck seems to have an intermittent problem. I Drove from WI to TX, it ran great for about 200 mi. then started running funny like it's got a fuel problem. The Rpm's would drop a little then come back up w/ loss of power. If I let off the throttle it would die. So I went to a truck stop for a break & let the truck cool down a little, started it back up with no problems until maybe 100 mi. Well this went on most of the way here until I made it to Austin. Driving around town it seemed OK until I went on the hwy 60-65 mph. I tightened all my fittings (I have new marine hose and metal brake line with brass fittings) and hose clamps, drove the truck around for 3-4 days everything seemed great. Yesterday was a little warmer, got stuck in a lot of traffic, stopped to get lunch, truck cranks over for a second (which indicates i'm going to have problems), trucks idle is up and down then dies. My fuel filter, lift pump & overflow valve have low miles, haven't changed any of the sealing washers though. I bypassed the fuel strainer a couple months back thinking the elbow hose going to the lift pump might be leaking (it never fit well when I replaced it) I put an inline wix filter before the lift pump i think it is for a 3rd gen dodge. I've never had the wif light come on so I pulled the filter today and 1 wire broke off. Could i have water in my filter? I also pulled a vacuum on the sensor, it didn't hold at all.
I need to get back to WI. sometime.
