With all the discussion on the lack of cooling in the new trucks, I thought I would measure the size of the cooling area in my 94 Radiator, Intercooler, and condenser, and compare that to the new 06.
By the way, the new 06 Quad cab does not seem to cool as well as the 94 regular cab. I have not measured temperatures yet as I do not have a dial temp gauge to stick in the vent. As a note to those who have posted temps, I suggest that we all calibrate the temp gauge with ice water in a large pan, stirring frequently. That will give you 32 deg F as long as there is ice in it, and tell you if the gauge is correct or how much it is off.
Now to the size.
94 rad, 720 sq inches, Intercooler 550 sq inches, condenser 411 sq in.
06 rad, 796 sq in. , Intercooler 646 sq in. , condenser 506 sq in.
At least these parts are bigger for the higher output engine. I have not tried to measure the evap as it is too hard to get to.
Just some more trivia to throw into the mix.
