I did it on my first gen to weld another oil return in the pan. It sucked. . actually I did it twice in the same day as I found a marine engine oil pan is different then a truck one . sump is wider... ha. . I undid the engine mount bolts and used the engine hoist to lift the engine up as high as I could get it ie hit the body /floor. . then did the oil pan. I had the front end up on jack stands on the frame so the front axle was hanging down a little... that worked but the the oil pump pickup sucked to do you have to drop the pan half way out and remove the bolts pretty much blindly and then you can snake the pan out . . install is reverse. ,.

Its more fun if you have help

Thanks

you need to loosen the engine mounting bolts, fan shroud, intake side intercooler hose clamp and jack up the engine a good 2-4 inches. without doing that the pan wont clear the bellhousing. On my 5 speed I loosened the 2 trans mounting bolts also. Use some RTV sealer to hold the gasket in place when you go to reinstall. Theres an oil pickup tube with 4 bolts holding it in place once you loosen the pan up. reach in loosen it up let it drop in the pan then pull the pan. I used an engine hoist on the front hook lifted it up enough no problem took about 3. 5 hours.
