have had my 95 dually for 6 years now. always perfect (except ball joints). the power steering has been a bit hard to turn on super cold days for a few winters now but only for the first few turns of wheel. it now has developed a really bad leak somewhere and i ran it about 100 miles like that, (no power steering). my first question is, can you ruin the pump by running it dry for a short time? i haven't yet found the leak and i am wondering if the pump has some kinda relief valve similiar to an automotive water pump that dictates it needs replacement. i'd like to fix the leak and try to get the air out of the system and get by for now. until i can afford all the parts i need to do it right. i also need to take out the rad and intercooler for cleaning and to do the kdp tab so i would like to wait till i have everything here so that i can do all of this at once, but i need the truck this weekend!

so what are the chances of saving my pump for a bit? and where do i purchase a good quality pump for a good quality (cheap) price? also i am sure there is alot of discussion on here about the best way to change out the pump. some links to the best and easiest way to do this job with or without radiator out would be great and very appreciated. thanks alot and have a good day.
