After weeks of messing with an overdrive hunting problem, finally found the culprit, the pivot pin from the throttle control bracket that fits inside the TPS (the bushings were wore and the pin was sliding off center intermittently and finally wore the heaqd of the pivot pin). Was pretty excited to find it until I went to the dealer to get a replacement. Seems the whole assembly has been superceded and you must by close to $600 worth of parts (cable assy, bracket, rod kit, etc) to fix this simple problem caused by worn out bushings. Has anyone encountered this problem before and have any ideas on where I might acquire the bushings and pin (rod?). Tried the local cummins shop and they supposedly ordered the pivot from a place in Wisconsin that buys dodges obsolote parts, but it's been over a week and still getting the run around on whether the order was even placed. Seems like the place they ordered from was called SR? but I can't find it in any searches. Or, better yet does anyone have any ideas on what types of places to check that might carry the bushings? Worst case I can probably mill the pivot pin out of stainless.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

There is a throttle linkage safety recall for your truck. Has it been done? It may have all the parts required except the TPS.

Ya got to be kidding me? I got a new throttle cable for around $75 (which came with the cable and new ends) and the TPS was $197.

Yes, the recall has been done. It was for the cable assy. Nathan, believe me, I am not kidding, the cable is just one of the five parts needed to put the superceded assy together, the rod kit (05011960AB) is $350.

The recall for my '95 included the rod, a lever, springs, and the cable. I don't know if all the springs were included or just the ones attached to the injector lever. The original rod ends had funny little wire clips. The new ones have plastic inserts and are push ons. Go to Dodge and let them check your VIN for any missed recalls. There is also a web site so you can do it, but I don't have the URL handy.
