The UPS man just dropped off my belated Christmas present - Isspro EV Marine EGT, Boost & Trans Temp gauges, aFe air filter, and 95' trans cooler line with temp probe port.

My question is - where does the trans line go? I've looked all over and it don't look like it fits anywhere. The service manual is useless, shows nothing!

Dave

It replaces the front cooler line on the transmission where the ATF is hottest coming from the transmission to the cooler. You will probably have to do something about the fitting where it connects to the trasmission. I'm not sure of all the details involved with installing it on a late model truck.

Great!!!

From the posts that I have read in the past it sounded like a direct bolt on replacement! If I have to cut and modify the existing line I will send it back and splice in a tee and save the $100!

Wish I would have known this when I ordered it.

Thanks Joe

Dave,

The only mod you need to do to the new line is to remove the check ball from the drainback valve. There's a drainback valve already in the heat exchanger, so you do not want two of them. It's a little rubber ball and spring that's in the line. Using a tip from a fellow TDR member (Thanks Eric!), I cut a piece of brake line with a pipe cutter, then put that into a drill. I then used the sharp end of the cut line (coming out of the drill) as a spinning cutting tool to chew up the ball until it came out in pieces. The line goes right on - easy job. It's under the truck coming off the driver's side of the transmission. Compare your new one to the one on the truck - it has all the exact bends - that's how you know you have the right one. Also, I did mine when I replaced my filter and fluid. It was less messy that way - from what I've read from other members who've done it. Good luck!

My line seems to short

Dave,

I crawled around under there and it sure looks like the line that I purchased is waaaaay to short. The line coming off the front of the trans towards the motor is a good 2' longer than the trans line I bought:mad:

Don't want to do anything until I'm sure I have the right line. The line is still in the package from Mopar and says:

"Oil Cooler Tube" with a part number of #05011244AA

Wish I had a picture of it to post.

Thanks for the hint regarding the check balls, hadn't heard anything about those previously/

Dave

Dave,

You have the correct line - I checked my receipt. There are 2 lines on there. You must be looking at the longer one. Hope this helps.

Dave

I'll check again?

Dave,

Thanks for taking the time to check the part number for me. I must be seeing things as I could swear that the line I checked was the forward line closest to the motor and it sure looked longer:confused:

I'll crawl my fat a%$ under their again tommorrow and look again.

Thanks

Dave

Good luck, Dave. Let me know how it turns out.

By the way, I spent the summer of '83 working in San Jose. I lived with my brother in Santa Clara. Met a lot of good Mopar guys cruising El Camino Real on Fri. and Sat. nights. :)
