Truck quit running going down the road. New fuel filter, checked the screen on the fuel heater, and the fuel shutoff on the injector pump. Not getting fuel to the fuel filter for some reason. Put some air pressure on the tank and I get fuel through the line. Would the transfer pump be out? Truck has about 400000 miles on it. 1995 4 wheel drive with an automatic.

It might be. The fuel heaters were notorious for leaking at the wire connection causing the fuel to bleed back to the tank - ergo crank and no start.

Put air pressure to the tank again and hold it for a while, check for wetness around the fuel heater, at the wire harness where it connects to the heater or drips.

:confused:Hey Sticks, where is Pondwater? I go to South Fork Colorado every summer. Just curious. Tried Mapquest and got nothing useful.

Badger, we installed a separate pump and filter for each of my tanks when we retrofitted my 86 gasser to a 92 diesel. Just in case factory lift/transfer pump quit, can go to other tank and keep on trucking. Each pump runs separate with tank switch and can carry necessary fuel requirements regardless of lift pump. Have a pressure regulator in line also, so pumps won't overpressure system. My brother's idea. May be the O'rings on your heater are leaking.

Pondwater is the affectionate name for where I live, which is a 1 square mile incorporated town right smack in the middle of 3 major "cities" in the Denver metro area.

Thanks Sticks, I just get curious about "different" names of some places. I like to travel.
30 plus years in a truck wasn't enough I guess.

Thanks everyone for the help on the 95 that would not start. It turns out it was the lift pump. Replaced it today and it runs like a champ. Truck belongs to a friend that purchased it new and lived in the upper peninsula on a dairy farm til about 2000 then moved to central il and it has 400000 miles on it. Still runs great but the body is shot on it as it has had a really rough life. My truck is a 98 12 valve which is pretty much like the 95 so I like working on his just for the experience cause mine will have problems done the road someday. Again thanks for the help.
