i have a 95, love it, have put 100 thousand miles on it. did all work myself. it is a regular cab with 200 thousand miles, sticker says made in america?, i have a chance to buy a 96 with much less miles, and is extended cab which i need. the truck is in better condition than mine and i could make out pretty good on the deal. but for one i love my truck; for two, is the 96 as good of a truck? what about the built in mexico deal? were they of the same quality or were they all built there. is there anything i would need to know about a 96 built in mexico over a 95 built here? are the motor and transmission the exact same? is there any quality issues with this 96 i should be aware of that i am not with my 95? anything at all, any info here would be greatly appreciated, thanks alot in advance for your info. i may have a few more questions on this topic. thanks again.

same exact parts...

maybe if you were talking brand new it would be a consideration, but any assembly QC issues on either truck would have popped up years ago

From what I've been told, Mexican trucks average 1. 8 errors per unit.

American trucks average 2. 2 errors per unit.

Bet you'll be OK.

i do not know if this is 100% true

my dad ask the dealer when he was ordering his truck in 97

told him all extended cab trucks are built in mexico and

standard could be either

The extended cab trucks were made in Mexico, the regular cab trucks in the U. S. , or at least that's what I heard. Out of 130000 miles on my 96, the only issues I've had were the throttle cable recall, the brake booster recall, loose front end, (which a DSS and new track bar took care of), fuel lines, and a rusted through brake line. Those same issues probably plagued your 95. Everything else done to my truck has been in the name of BOMBing. One of the best vehicles I've ever owned.

mines from canada i think. found a little sticker underneath that said canada.

is the 96 a stick or auto. either way you should buy it, the pump is bigger with both.

I had a Mexican-made 1996 V-10 3500 - excellent truck with great build quality. Same thing with my Mexican-assembled 2002 in my signature - it's never been back to the dealer for any problem since I took delivery on 8/15/01.

I've owned 3 Mexican-made club-cab trucks... . all with ZERO trouble. Also, my 97 was completely undercoated. According to the body shop manager, "that is the way they are all coming now" (he said in early 97). So if that is the case with the 96 you are considering, you may have that added bonus as well. Just my . 02!

is it still the p7100 inline pump?

just turned up a bit more from the factory? same transmisions? (they are both automatics). somebody sent me a private message asking if i was going to sell the 95 if i purchase the 96. yes i will have to sell the 95. that is my problem, i can hardly part with it, just gonna hate to see it go and i don't know if i can do that yet.

The '95 has a 47RH and the '96 has a 47RE transmission. The main difference between them is that the 47RE has an electronic governor. The 47RH uses a fly weight governor. Other than that there is a little more HP in the '96, but not much. Both have a P7100 pump.

so which trans is better,..........

more reliable? i like mechanical things better than electronics. what do you guys think of the trans difference?? thanks again

Someone might be able to elaborate, but as I understand it,

Vin numbers starting with

1 are U. S. made

2 Are Canadian

3 are mexican

Mine is a mexican made 3 vin.

My 95 is Mexico made and its wonderfull. Sometimes it talks to me like night rider and I can't understand and word it says ... ... ... Spanish

Gentlemen, I removed a couple of posts in this thread that I consider a violation of the Site Guideline. Let's keep this civil.

I removed those posts.

I'm faster than you Preston. :D :D

BTW, Jeff and David has some interesting stories about you last weekend. I didn't know you were such a hellraiser. :D

As far as my take on the Mexico built trucks. I've had both. I've been very pleased with the Mexico built trucks. I did have several transmission issues on the USA built truck in a bone stock truck, as did the previous owners.

My 96 is spanish and wouldn't have any other way.

And, Curtis, I'm not what you hear. They are very bias. Or should I say jealous? I am a laid back, easy going, quite, good looking, unpretenious MANIAC.
