Hello Gents,

I'm looking for some advice from where to go from here with my truck. I currently have a 3K GSK, ATS-Manifold, #10 TST, and timing set at 15. 5 degrees. I am looking at possibly doing 4Ks and valve springs, 191 or some other delivery valves and injectors(SDX 90hp or ??). Any suggestions/ comments. .

Thanks.

You could also upgrade the turbo, camshaft, 12mm plungers without retard notch, stud and o-ring the head. It all depends on what you are after. Twin turbos, bigger plungers, Fluidampnr, the list goes on. What are you going to do with the truck and how deep are your pockets? This will help people steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for the reply JD. Unfortunately I'm looking at spending no more that $1k at this time. Ultimately I would like a 400-450 truck that can still tow without a problem. I would luv to get crazy but my pocket book and use of the truck won't allow it. Hope this helps I was kinda vague yesterday:eek:

You could pull that 10 plate and put in a #6. That will wake it up and you can keep the stock turbo. Same for a 90 hp or so injectors, keep the stock turbo, but if you do a more aggressive plate and injectors, a turbo would be a good idea. Eventually you'll need more air. A very nice addition too the present combo would be a set of factory 215 hp injectors.

You may be able to find a good buy on a used turbo that someone has and wanting to upgrade. You could install a cam, valve springs and an adjustable timing gear for your budget. I put the adjustable timing gear on mainly to keep the timing from slipping.

Like others mentioned, go ahead and start looking at more air before adding more fuel. You'll need it regardless when you start adding the fuel.

This is the first I've seen an adjustable timing gear mentioned in a diesel context. I'm familiar with the various automotive versions. Who makes the Cummins version??

There are several available. I bought mine from a guy on Comp D. You send your gear in for an exchange. The new hub is broached for a key that fits in the nose of your injection pump shaft. Once installed, your timing will never slip. I will try and post the info.

Thanks guys for all the help. Looks like I'll need more air so what should I go with especially with my altitude (6000 ft +). Looks like I'll have a little more budget too (1500 or so)
