I have recently bought 95 the old owner told me a friend instructed him to take the plate out of the pump for more power he also put vice-grips on the line coming off the front of the turbo :--) I would like to know where I can find instructions on how to replace it in the right spot or another plate. The plate I have has an 11 on the back. From what I have read this is not an inprovment on a stocker. :(

I have the DD install plate and guide that lines the plates up in their corect location I can send you. Send me an email with address and I will drop it in the mail.

PS I have the stock 96 auto plate which I will include as well I think the 95 is the same as my 96

The '95 has a 160 pump. The '96 has a 180 pump. The stock plate will still work but you may need to move it forward a little to get the same HP. Not sure of that. Maybe Jim Fulmer will chime in about the pump differences and if the plates are different or not. Whatever, the stock '96 plate will work.

Put the 11 in there, and move it about . 25 of full foward. Running no plate is a baaad bad idea, you can really damage the pump that way.

As for the vice grips, all he did was shut off the wastegate on the turbo, which isnt a bad thing if you have gauges. The no plate situation could mebe cause you to exceed 35-40psi boost and blow the turbo. You can get rid of the vice grips by getting an 1/8" NPT pipe plug (brass preferably) and removing the fitting that comes out of the turbo, and plugging it.

I`d put that 11 in instead of a stock plate, or if you're good with a grinder, grind your own plate profile like I did. Much better than stock, and a helluva lot cheaper. From what Ive read, no plate is actually worse performance than a good plate.

I would also recommend ck'ing the fuel overflow valve on the outlet of the pump and make sure the spring is not smooshed. A new overflow valve can really change the attitude of yer truck. Theres a seller listed somewhere in the forums that will ship it to you for 42$ total. .

ohya, and Welcome to the TDR Bernie!
