Ok, I finally gave up on fixing the 24valve, still cannot get it to start. So, I parked it and went back to driving my 96 12v auto. I fixed the leak around the dipstick tube and got it on the road again, but it will not go into OD, the converter does lockup but no 4th gear. I borrowed a code reader today at lunch and found it had 2 codes a p1757 govenor at 3 when it should be 0, and a p1753, anybody know what a p1753 is? I have taped the brown overdrive wire at the pcm and the orange lockup wire and I do have 12vdc until 50 mph and then it does go to ground, so I think that means the solnoids are working at least electrically they have power and it does go away when the pcm grounds them. So, now what? Before I tear the pan off I am planning on doing a pressure check on the gov and the od test ports. I have bought a repair/ overhaul manuel just for this tran and I will be doing an overhaul in the future but I need to get to work till I can get the 3500 back up and running again. Any good ideas?

It sounds like you've got a bad solonoid in the valve body. If you have power till it "shifts" into OD... then it's gone... . indicating ground... like you are saying... . which is correct... . I would assume that solonoid isn't operating.
