Anyone know where I can get the hubs for my 96 4x4 3500? I got new rotors but no one locally sells hubs and stealer wants over $500 per side for the hub rotor combo-only way they sell it. I could evan use bearings and seals for the old hub and make it work. Dealer does not list any part numbers for seals and bearings. Truck is up on jacks-any ideas?

the hub is a NON-servicable unit. You can goto carquest or napa to get a new front hub. It includes new bearings, seals, and hub. It bolts to the spindle with 4 9/16" head 12 point bolts. Take one of those bolts off and take it to a place that has fine thread bolts, and get another one that has the same threads. Take the caliper off, and the 1 11/16" axle nut, and then the 4 bolts on the back. Take your new bolt and put it in one of the holes, beat the heck out of it, move it to another hole, repeat. Do this till it falls apart. Do not use one of the origional bolts, because it is grade 10 and hard to find. And you will mess the head up on the bolt so it might be hard to remove and move to another hole. Throw it all back together the way it came apart with plenty of antiseze. This will make life easier down the road. Mu hub was $227 + tax at car quest.

An easier way was to remove hub assembly with rotor attached and put in 20 ton press. 10 seconds later hub is no longer part of rotor. I pressed out bearings-they are Timken with #'s on them- seals are another matter. Did the new hub assembly come with 8 new lug/dualie extender bolts?

I checked with Napa today they do not have a part # for the hub for my 3500-we don't have any carquests around here. I have checked with all the parts houses in the area and other than the stealer no one carries or even lists the hubs. EGR has hubs but will take over a week to get here. We tried to match up bearings and seals-both Timken and no luck there either. Even Timken doesn't have there own numbers. I have repacked bearings (they looked good) and put old seals back in-not the way I wanted to go. With all the 3500 4x4's out there you would assume that aftermarket would have some parts. I wonder where EGR gets their's?:(

The hubs are not serviceable. I have even tried to get the bearings directly from Timken, but they are not allowed to sell them to anyone but Bosch (they make the hub assy). There is an aftermarket company that makes a hub for our trucks. I saw it in a thread a couple of weeks ago; however, it converts the hub to a manual that you engage at the wheel (like the old styles) durable and serviceable though.

I have two hubs in the garage that need new bearings. I am planning on taking them apart and finding bearings and seals that will work with a little machining. I'll let you know what I come up with when I get around to it (most likely after hunting season ;) )

If you already have it apart, is there a bearing house in your area?

Kaman Industrial Technologies is in my area and I imagine they could match the bearing and / or seal.

Maybe not but that is what I would try.
