I have a 96 and need to replace tie rods etc. Anyone remember the TDR issue that had the write up on steering Y to T conversion?? Not sure what type my 96 has.

Did it make much difference in steering quality

It did make a difference but really only because the Y type rod ends had worn out. Honestly I think if both setups were in good shape someone could've snuck into my garage and swapped the Y type for the T type and I probably wouldn't have noticed a thing on my way to work in the morning. Maybe the front tires wore a little more evenly since the toe didn't change every time I hit a bump anymore.

Luks Links, inexpensive, and are rebuild able (although if you grease them, they last an extremely long time). I probably have 200k on my luks link ends and I have not rebuilt them yet from when I originally put them together. They are still tight, I grease them with a heavy duty grease each oil change.

Thanks guys!! I have done the luks links infact I have 3 of them on now...they do work great and have been on for a long time but it time for a rebuild. I am going to do the T type conversion. Thanks GrantP.

Responses like these are very far and few between.....but need to be read with much attentiveness.

I say this because all too often you read in these forums where someone claims to have turned their vehicle from a frightening "E ticket" ride into a mellow kittycat merely by installing some "X" component. I've unfortunately followed the advice of those types of members many times too only to find that my truck is somehow an odd ball and didnt respond to the newly installed component as it was described it would.....or those members weren't totally honest with their experiences but tend to exaggerate. Or.....there's more to their story all together.

So kudo's to you Grant for being honest. :D
