ok dumb question and I know i havent posted in ages but here goes

the P7100 pump found in the stick 96-98s

does it over the same potential

in example

I know the 98 starts with more stock horsepower

however if a 98 and 96 were modified for example with both say an exhaust and plate, would they theoretically have around teh same power, or would the 98 have more since it started with more?

thanks and sorry if its a dumb question or been asked before

The 96-98 5 spd trucks were 215hp, the 94-95 5spd trucks were 175hp.

The 887 or 913 pumps that came off the 96-98. 5 5 spd trucks were the best pump to turn into a race pump. They have a better cam, 181 del valves, lighter governor assembly & the helix is a better design than the older pumps.

It's all in the helix. That's what Joe wouldn't tell me. :-laf

Life should not be hampered by 160 pumps. I put 33,000 miles on one--oh the agony. 181's, 370's, 3k, 16 degrees, #4 plate--still weak compared to my 24v.

THEN -as Joe had been saying I should do- I lucked into a 913 the other day.

Big difference. Way big. I'm convinced it's the helix. ;) Thanks Piers.

Do it right--either get a full-bore race pump from Piers or save your nickels and get a 913 pump. Don't waste time and effort on a 160--they make great door stops and boat anchors and...
