torn AFC diaphragm? cracked AFC signal line?

Had the cracked line on one of my company service trucks (92) and have seen several blown AFC diaphragms on the p-pump trucks. You have a '96. It has the best p7100 pump and damn good injectors. I would not trade it out. '96-'98 with the 215 horse rating are the sought after injection pumps.

Is the transmission shifting properly? If it is slipping, it will make a "low power" feeling and will not build boost/power. RPMs will go up faster than speed if this is the case.

transmission shifts good... a guy that i work with said that there is a screw adjustment on the rear of the pump and to turn it counter clockwise. . however i am leary about playing with that setting... . i am trying to figure out where the afc is... and to give a little backround of myself i am a heavy equipment operate/ half ***** equipment mechanic i know my way around any piece of equipment but under the hood of my truck i am clueless. . and this is my first diesel and even though i am having a few problems i think i made a good choice

That is the AFC screw. It has a allen head screw and a jamb nut behind a tamper proof aluminum cap. If the diaphragm is busted in the afc, you can run this screw all the way in to make up for it but you will get smoke if you floor it before boost comes on. It adds a good bit of power and makes boost come up quicker. PITA to get to and is a "mechanic by braille" situation.

what happens with the afc housing when moved forward or backwards what are those results? and if anybody knows i have the banks stinger kit with the banks fuel plate and i ma contemplating on the fuel plate from dynomite diesel, along with the 75 or 90 hp injectors

moving the housing forward = more smoke but more power. you can mod the AFC to travel more so that you can run it farther back to control smoke, but not limit power

backing off the pre-set screw on the back cover will help with the housing slid forward
