Well, I just rolled 97,000 miles on my 03' and the rear brakes are due for replacement. These are the original brakes too. I am very pleased with the way they held up. I still have pad left, however, the Chicago winters have taken a toll on my rotors, they are pitted and rusting.

Anyway, have any of you tried after market rotors and pads for the rear? If so, what kind and did you like them? I'm not sure if I want continue with OEM, or try something else. I just don't want tons of noise.

Thanks!

EBC rotors and and EBC "Green Stuff" rear pads have been great. This is not a cheap route to take but you get what you pay for.

Just rolled 100 thou myself, wondering about a few things, those brakes being one on the list. What's a source for those pads ? Thanks.

For what its worth, those of you that have the older Ram's with rear Drum and Shoe brakes and are thinking about installing the conversion to disc kit from EGR you won't be disappointed. It is quality all the way and the shorter stopping distance will surprise you. I had my 98 since 98 and never thought the brakes were adequate. I was sure it would make a difference and was pleasantly surprised to find that now I can stop equally well as my wifes car that has disc on all 4. I am not for any reason trying to sell for EGR but looking at it from a safety standpoint it could save you from a fender bender. I had a 1990 Nissan and a lady in a 2000 Pontiac failed to yield and I stood on the brake pedal but just could not slow down enough to avoid hitting her car. Now I realize that had there been disc on the rear I might have stopped. If the disc on the rear of my 98 Ram saves me one fender bender then it was well worth the expense. No air bag in the old Nissan and when the seat belt over my shoulder tightened up the impact cracked Cartilage in my chest and I was in misery for 17 days. The Nissan went to its final resting place and I have learned the hard way to never own a vehicle without disc on all 4. Too soon old and too late smart.
