Does anyone have an idea on michelin ltx 235-85 16in tires? I have 215-85 16 and like them. but at almost 70k they need to become tire swings as the wear bars are showing on them. do 235's fit? any advantages over 215's? any disadvantages? thanks to all who reply!!!

Bud, You read my mind. I was just fixin(southern for "going to") to ask the same question as my Michelins are wearin thin too. I know the new ones come with 235's on them but not sure about older models.

correctly valved 5 speed. White, Brown Manf. brushguard and rear bumper,Sprayed in liner, Stock plate and AFC properly adjusted. That's all for now. More to come.

A previous post on this said max sidewall width of 9. 4" with 235's so the sidewalls don't rub. I agonized over this for awile then just last week put 215 LTX's on. I had 235 General Grabbers that were put on when I bought my truck used. I ran 70lb front and 60lb rear. I never rotated the tires. The fronts had worn normally even with a slightly rounded profile. The backs wore in the center.

Mostly, my ride in snow was quite adventerous to say the least. My intention is to see how it handles with the stock size. You can put spacers between the wheels but that will reduce the amount of threads the nuts catch.

Initially, the profile looked a bit "weinie" with the smaller tires but I got over it. Throttle response is better of course. I thought about the 19. 5's as well. I am hoping these give me what I want in snow then maybe going to the 19. 5's in a highway tread for mild weather since I don't run offroad.

From what I gather about dually trucks is that 235s are as large as you can go before you would experience the insides of the duals touching. Touching duals develop heat rather quickly, excessive heat in a tire = blowouts (ask Firestone about this). As for the height of the 235, you will gain a small amount over a 215, but not alot. Check actual tire diameter to find actual differences. You may or may not gain load carying capacity, depends on the tire design.

Hey gang, I have a 97 3500 and went from 215 Goodyears to Firestone R4S 235 with no problem, even with my 10k 5th wheel trailer lashed up.

I put 235 85 16 Dunlop Radial Rovers (had to have white letter tires) and they look great, are quite and ride good. There is plenty of clearance between the tires.
