Ok guys,

I just bought a 2nd CTD, this one is a 97' auto 4x4... I am NEW to the auto transmission..... , but not new to CTD. I am sure it has been covered before, but my search has just given bit's of info. I am going to lightly bomb this truck: Gauges, AFE Mega Cannon, Plate, 4" exhuast. Here is my short list of questions:

1) How bad is the transmission? With these bombs will have to go the FULL BLOW ATS / DTT route? OR will like a new Dunrite converter & valve body get me there?

2) This is a 180hp motor, so it has the baby pump correct? Do I need to swap for the big pump on light mods?

3) I am thinking the number #6 plate? Good, bad, ugly?

4) Anything else anyone can offer please the input would be appreciated!

Thank's in advanced!

Josh

1) Advised to get new transmission or have current one rebuilt. Mine is still stock because of lack of money.

2) No you do not need to swap the pump for the 215, The 180 is plenty big.

3)Don't know about the #6 but the number 8 runs good, but i need a little more power now so i am going with the #4.

on #2 you can continue using the 180hp rated pump, shouldn't be a problem... I'd eager to read what others say about the auto transmission... :)

so, josh, are you stockin' up on 2nd gens or something?!? :D (i've kinda been thinking about doin' that myself... )

Arthr,

To be honest sir... . YES I am. My 96' is just the best truck I have owned. So I figured I better get another one. The guy was retired, babied the truck, only 80,000 miles & had all the paper work... ... couldnt pass it up.

one the transmission at least go hd torque I have a dual stage convertor and it hold fine but for valve body give HTS a try I had mine rebuilt a year and half ago and the place put sonic stuff in it and I had problems I now have a HTS valve body and it is awesome good solid shift good pressure and cool temp at least give them a look www.HTSTRANSMISSIONS.com

Depends on the shape of your transmission. Some will take more power, some won't. My stocker didn't even really like the stock power. You can see what I have in my sig. Great price and service. Has worked flawlessly for about the 20k miles I've had the trans. :)

The "baby" pumps are on the '94-'95 trucks. The 180 pump can handle plenty of fuel. :) All pump/fueling mods in sig.

The transmission won't like it, but the 180 pump will handle the same mods you have on your '96. Won't be as much power, but still a nice kick in the pants. :)
