'97 Diesel Ram in Germany

Hi guys!

At the first - sorry about my bad american language - I'm a german!

Since 6 weeks I'm a very proud owner of a '97 Ram Diesel. I meen a really exotic truck over here.

Since 3 days I'm a member of tdr.

Now my question: My truck ist originally from Canada. Is the block-heater working with 110 Volt?

Unfortunately we have 220V. Maybe somebody know how many Watt the heater need, before I look for a tronsformer? I ask, because there was no user manual with the car. Somebody know, from where I can get a owner-manual.

I do not know of any other block heater voltage other than 115V. I know of 8 personnelly that have been ran in 0F weather without using the block heater. They usually start right up. But it is nice to plug in the truck and have warm air as soon as you turn on the interior heater.

Welcome!! The block heater is 110/120 volts and about 600 watts. I use mine all the time (even in warm weather, when it's convienent).



Don't worry about your English skills. Your English is a heck of a lot better than my German!

I was in Dachau in 1997, I paid about $4. 50US/gallon for diesel! Your Ram is a VERY large vehicle to have on narrow German streets, please be careful. Welcome to TDR!!! Chuss!

I live in Colorado and have never used the heater. I dont even know if I have one

Ray you probably do, I've never seen a cummins without it, it would be tucked between the radiator/bumper on the passenger side. Used mine only a couple of times. Sepp, as far as manuals go, try this site, they would probably ship international for a charge! Welcome in!!

Cummins engines are used world wide, if you go to their website, I'm sure you would be able to locate a block heater of proper voltage.

If this doesnt work out, try finding a local business that sells generator sets. They may be able to help.



My Dad's family was from Germany. Way long ago.

thanks for the welcome. You stay here in germany and you understand how complicated it is to drive a Ram over here. Only to get a part is a adventure. For the engine no problem, cummins have a contractor in Nürnberg, but even if I need a lamp it cost a lot of money, because it comes by airfreight.

I can just imagne you driveing that truck through Munich!

It's hard to find a place to park with a VW in that town. And those little streets with cars parked along both sides. You REALLY have to know the dimentions of your truck to keep from hitting everything just driveing down the street. I'll bet your freinds think your crazy.

I know the TUV inspection is real strict on modifications in Germany but if you ask around, some of these guys can tell you how to modify the truck to go real fast with out being able to tell its been modified. EX---stealth injectors-modified fuel plates.

It doesn't cost much money and would be fun to blow the doors off of one of those GTI's with a 7000 lb diesel truck.
