97 duramax, any info?

I have spotted a 97 chevy with a duramax ( i think) in it. its on craigs list. it has 180,000 miles on it. I have heard these engines are junk. any opinions on how long a maintained duramax will last, or will this truck need an engine soon?

Actually I reread the ad, its a 6. 5 liter not the duramax

I wouldn't call them junk, but not top of the list. Much better than a stock 6. 2L. IIRC, the 6. 5L rated at ~190hp and 430tq.

Hopefully the PMD isn't still engine mounted on that one. They don't like the heat or vibration. There is a kit to relocate it.
