Went to Lowe's the other day and got about 1400 pounds of mortar and sand in the back of my 97 2500
long bed diesel 2WD, it rode much better, especially over speed bumps.
The rear only sagged maybe an inch.
Are these springs stock or did the previous owner add some helpers, they are 3 inches wide, 4 on bottom 2 on top?
I did some Googleing but found no help.
Thanks in advance.

I had 1998.5 2500 that was rated for 8800 lbs.GVW and it had the same spring set-up, check the door post sticker for the GVW.

Only 1400 pounds? I put 4000# of horse manure in my truck once. And 3600# of #52 gravel in it another time. Suspension compressed 4"-6". It rode *really* nice. Especially with the Yoko 19.5" TY303s. Of course, I *did* drive extra carefully to avoid the tires/wheels becoming the entire rear suspension.

My 1999 has the same configuration and it has the 8800# GVW. I think these springs were part of the Camper Package along with a sway bar....my truck rides more smoothly with 1400# too!

Factory tow package overloads. Mine has them too. After 21 years and all the miles I have towing I had to add air bags to help them out.
