I had both sides of my trucks bearing hubs and rotors replaced less than 6 months ago. Last night while rotating the tires I noticed that I had a little wobble from top to bottom on the passenger side. Could this be possible? I can't afford to replace this soon.

My question is this. Do you think that I could jack up the truck and re-tighten the nut on the outside of the hub? Maybe it wasn't tightened enough to begin with. any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you check to see if the movement is with the ball joints? You can re-torque the nut. I can't remember what the amount is its been a few years since I did mine.

Hi travisg

Im getting my axle removal knowledge from TDR issue 40. It says the axle torque is 175#. But even if the axle nut is loose the wheel won't wobble. the hub/spindle assembly is tightened in with 4 bolts from the back side. the axle just turns the hub.

Retightening the hub nut is not going to help. That wobble is typically a bad hub or bad ball joints.

You can check the ball joints by jacking up that side of the truck and watching for movement in the joint. Or once the tire is in the air use a pry bar to apply pressure to the bottom of the tire and try to lift it up while watching the ball joint. Might help to have another person handy to keep an eye on the joint.
