97 dodge dually cummins 5 speed 4wd 100k - any thing special i should look out for. thinking of buying.

my current ride is a 92 cdd,regcab,5speed,2wd. 3. 54,200k,with gale banks and large injecters with pillar mounted gauges.

if you can see if the 5th gear nut has been addressed along with the KDP (killer dowel pin). If not that doesnt mean dont buy the truck, those are just the two biggest complaints I think most people will have about the 12v's.

Take a flashlight and look where the KDP cracks the case and make sure it has not been patched, it is hard to see in there so maybe someone can direct you to the correct area to look as its been a while since I had mine apart. These are good trucks with few really bad problems and if other owner has taken care of it should last a long time. Mostly look and see if whoever owned it cared about it enough to keep it looking good and everything repaired

look and see what trailer the guy has or what he does for a living. I know a guy that has a truck like you described that has been wrecked, frame straightend, all new front end and often pulls a goosneck grossing 35-40,000#'s. no way I would buy his truck. Also it is J-B welded where the killer dowel pin cracked the timeing cover as it saved money over a proper fix and that stopped it from slobering oil all over the driveway. I'm not saying his isn't a reliable , hard working truck, I'm just saying that its longivity has been severely compromised.
