2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 98 12v dually

I read on this forum that a 98 12 valve 3500 4x4 quad cab is the " Holy Grail of trucks". Why is it?

Quad cabs began production (just extended cabs w/no doors before) and the engine changed to the 24 valve design close enough together that there were not many of them made.

holy grail is 98 quad cab 4x4 5spd 12valve... . can either be a 3/4 or 1 ton..... best of both worlds

also the key is the 5spd... ALOT of 98 quad autos running around... . VERY VERY few 5spd's

I have a 98 quad cab 4x4 12 valve AUTOMATIC (ATS rebuilt, w/ torque converter and controller). I can and do drive it like a stick w/o a clutch. The trans temp gauge almost never goes over 150. With this setup I can and do pull some large loads. I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd love to have a manual trans. , but I have what I have.

If it were black(it's white), leather and a REAL crew cab it would be the perfect truck. Some people are never happy.

Well, almost everything you said is indisputable. But I would prefer the automatic due to the truck being my daily driver, plus the fact that my commute is entirely city traffic. I think we can safely say the "Holy Grail" is ANY 98 12v quad cab. I want a 2500 version, but am admittedly too cheap/poor to get one. Hell, I`d be happy with an xcab,97 or 98 Around here the S!@#$%^`s are getting 3-4k over book if it has a back seat. DK.
