Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 98 47RE to 97 47RE

Is it possible to swap a 98 47RE with a 97 47RE. I ask because I have 47RE from a friend and everything appears the same except for the speedometer plug on the tailshaft. Can I use this as a spare to swap in while having my 98 47RE rebuilt. If the only difference is not having a speedometer I can live with that and use my GPS. Any help is appreciated.

Your 98 should get the VSS signal from the ABS module, no need to use the speedo drive. Plug it and you should be good to go.
