I Changed My Fuel Filter On My 98. 5 Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 24 Valve And Now I Don't Have Any Fuel Flow When I Try To Prime The Low Pressure Fuel System. I Think My Lift Pump Is Shot! Is There A Better Lift Pump To Buy And Did I Hurt My Vp44?

LP Woes

Yep... . RASP by KO Engineering, then theres the FASS system. How much cash have you got to spend? I don't think one is better than the other yet (too soon to tell)... ... They're kinda spendy. I believe they run in the $600 & up range. I'm sure someone that owns one or the other will chime in & give you their opinion on the one they are running.

For what they're getting for them I think I'll hold out a little longer & see which one has the best longevity. For $600+ I can buy several lift pumps.

VP44 should be fine. Many people find out their LP's are dead or dying after changing their fuel filter.

Holley makes a pump you can put at the fuel tank as a pusher. The Blue model works fine. The Red model only gives about 9-10 psi at idle and drops to about 8 psi at cruise. My son bought the Red model, should have got the Blue model.

I have the Blue model for my truck and saving it for the day the Lift pump ceases to function.

I went through 8 Lp's in 75,000-80,000 miles before buying a FASS. Now with 100,000 on the clock, no problems with the FASS yet. I do not know how long it will last, but sofar it has been good. The only problem I see with the FASS, Electrical pumps can in no way outlast a mechanical pump, especially with a more viscious fuel, such as Diesel.

When the FASS dies, I will look for some type of Mechanical Alternative, such as the Rasp. Hopfully this is not for a while.

BTW, my truck is a quad cab with long bed, and just a few engine mods :D .
