I have a buddy that purchasd a late 98 extended cab short bed and he is having the tps trouble I believe. From what he told me it keeps kicking out of lock up.
We were going to clean it with some elec. contact cleaner but I could not be sure where it was on his truck. we removed the black cover on the throttle connections but did not see it. I think it is behind the plate that the throttle pivots on. Am I right in this assumption? How do you access this thing? I had to go to work and I did not have time to get into it too much. Does one have to take the bolts that hold the plate to the engine to get to the tps?
I told him that I put a switch in mine and I control when lock-up is functioning. He is considering the same thing and I was just wondering if the wire on my 95 is the same one to ground on his 98. 5 i. e. color and pin number.
I can't remember what color mine was as I went to great trouble to hide the wire in the factory wire loom and can't see which wire I tapped. I knew that would come back to haunt me.
I did notice that looking under the hood that where the harness plugs into the pcm there are three plugs and I have only one large black plug.
What is the correct way to wire a lock-up switch for his truck?
He is new to diesel ownership and if there is anything he needs to be aware of on his truck please let me know so I can relay the info to him.
I already gave him the "good news" about the KDP so he is up to date on it.
Thanks, dan Pyles.
